The chief secretary thanks note

The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania recognizes that employment has a central role in promoting nation prosperity, poverty eradication, social inclusion as well as in enhancing stability, peace and social harmony. Creating decent jobs and self-employment opportunities is thus fundamental to the realization of the right to work, as well as a means for sustained economic growth, poverty eradication and the attainment of national and international goals and commitments, including the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). As part of this strategy, government is also committed to provide a conducive environment for the promotion of full employment and decent work. Consequently, employment issues have been incorporated in the national poverty reduction strategy named as the National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty. In addition, Tanzania has ratified eight ILO core conventions and has already reviewed the National Employment Policy as part of this effort.
