Ambassador, Dr. Lumbanga studied Industrial Economic at the University of Dar es Salaam graduating in March 1972. He earned an M.A. in International Relations at Geneva School of Diplomacy and International Relations.

Brief History

Ambassador Dr. Martin Y. C. Lumbanga was sworn in as a Chief Secretary and Head of Public Service on 1996 He also served in the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania in many middle and senior positions until 1986 when he was appointed to the position of Permanent Secretary in various ministries before assuming the highest Public service post of Chief Secretary (Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet) to the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania for eleven years from February 1995 to January 2006. In this position he was responsible for several reforms in the social, economic and political spheres. From February 2006, Dr. Lumbanga was appointed Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Permanent Mission of Tanzania and other International Organisations in Geneva. He was also accredited to the United Nations office in Vienna. Since his return home, he was appointed by the former president, H.E. President Jakaya M. Kikwete to be the Chairman of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPPA) forma term of three years (renewable from June 2003)
